Chili for charities! Over the past fourteen Labor Day Sundays, The Hanover Chili Cook Off has grown into a significant community fundraising event. In 2009, with a paid admission of over 8,000 and more than 500 volunteers and Chili Cooks participating, the event was able to donate $41,660 to selected local nonprofit organizations. The 15th Annual Hanover Chili Cook Off will be held on September 5, 2010 in the Good Field complex on Forney Avenue, Hanover, Pennsylvania. For the first time ever, this is the International Chili Society’s Pennsylvania State Chili Championship Cook Off. The Planning Committee has taken this opportunity to raise the bar to a record level by seeking major sponsorships from corporations and businesses with a presence in the greater Hanover area to create a regional event. Each dollar of your sponsorship increases the donations we will make by offsetting some of the events operating expenses. The Hanover Chili Cook Off is a volunteer-driven fundraising effort with 100% of net proceeds donated to local charities. Please, help us meet our 2010 fundraising goals by becoming a sponsor! The donated proceeds of the Chili Cook Off help fund programs that touch many lives in the Hanover area. The Guthrie Memorial Library registers over 24,000 patron visits monthly. The Hanover Council of Churches strives to serve the neediest of our community by serving over 4,000 meals every month and operating a year-round shelter for the homeless. The HART Center provides a safe working environment for 150 adults with disabilities. Also, on the 2009 donation list were the Adams County SPCA, our local State Park Friends group, as well as two individuals under the severe financial and emotional stress of waiting for heart transplants.
